Do you remember how you used to celebrate your birthday as a kid? You looked forward to it. You counted down the days. You had a party. So why is it that when you become an adult, you start writing it off, as just another day?
I used to be the same, and then one year, I started working for a company that included one personal holiday in their holiday benefits, so “NATurally,” I made my birthday a “Holiday” that year.
Every year, I take my Birthday off. I gift myself at least one full day to spend it doing whatever I want - and I think everyone should do the same!
Believe it or not, I’ve only worked my birthday once, maybe twice since. (I remember the first exception because I had started a new job and an important Client meeting was already scheduled for that Thursday - I took Friday off instead!)
Your Birthday is a Holiday! YOU ARE WORTH CELEBRATING!
Have a party. Get yourself a gift. Soak in the sunshine at the beach.
Spend the day relaxing at spa. Spurge on a fancy meal at your favorite restaurant. Take yourself on a trip. Sleep in.
Take Your Birthday Off & Do What Every You Want!
Celebrating your birthday should be filled with fun energy! Everyone should take their Birthday off! I’m so passionate about this that when I used to manage direct reports, I’d gift them their birthday as an extra personal day off each year.
